Eclipse Leisure Centre: A New Standard in Sustainability
Eclipse Leisure Centre is redefining energy-efficient leisure facilities. As the UK’s largest Passivhaus-certified wet and dry leisure centre (certification expected in March/April), and the first in London, it sets a new benchmark for sustainability, performance, and social impact.
Unmatched Energy Efficiency
Eclipse Leisure Centre consumes 60-70% less energy than similar modern facilities. This is achieved through super-insulated construction, airtight design, and low-carbon materials. Features such as Cross Laminated Timber walls and low-carbon concrete foundations further enhance its eco-credentials.
Sustainable Construction & Reduced Carbon Footprint
From design to delivery, sustainability was a priority. During construction:
100% of site waste was diverted from landfill
HVO fuel and battery-powered equipment cut emissions by 90%
1,686 tonnes of CO₂e were saved through sustainable materials
These efforts ensure Eclipse is not only a model of operational efficiency but also of responsible construction.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The centre boasts an eight-lane 25m pool, spa, six-court sports hall, fitness studios, climbing walls, squash courts, and a rooftop terrace overlooking 3G football pitches. Every element is designed for both high performance and a low environmental impact.
Social & Economic Impact
Beyond sustainability, Eclipse delivers significant community benefits, generating an £8.5 million social return on investment—29% of the project value. This ensures the facility isn’t just energy-efficient but also a catalyst for well-being and community development.
Eclipse Leisure Centre is more than a leisure facility it’s a pioneering achievement in sustainable design and social responsibility, setting a new standard for future developments
