The Reeds at South Lodge Hotel: A Sustainable Nature Retreat
The Reeds at South Lodge Hotel is a collection of eight eco-lodges designed for a tranquil getaway, nestled along a wild swimming pond. The project prioritizes sustainability, minimal environmental impact, and seamless integration with nature.
Non-Intrusive Construction
To preserve the surrounding trees, we implemented the RapidRoot foundation system, a concrete-free, low-impact footing solution that avoids excavation and root damage. This system, combined with RapidPier, provides a stable structural podium without disturbing the landscape.
Sustainability at the Core
Sustainability guided every aspect of The Reeds. The lodges feature bamboo cladding, a fast-growing, CO2-neutral material, alongside rainwater harvesting systems and water-source heat pumps to reduce their environmental footprint. Interiors are equally eco-conscious, incorporating curved ash staircases and countertops made from upcycled materials.
Embracing Nature
Designed to blend into the landscape, the lodges cantilever over the pond, offering uninterrupted views of nature. The pond was restored with a chalk bed filtration system and features a cascading waterfall inspired by Monet’s lily ponds. Landscaping was carefully planned to preserve existing habitats, ensuring an immersive, nature-filled retreat.
Each lodge is positioned for complete privacy, with mezzanine bedrooms capturing the sunrise and spacious lounges opening onto overhanging decks, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The Reeds at South Lodge Hotel is more than just accommodation—it’s a harmony of luxury, sustainability, and nature, creating an unforgettable escape.
