In October 2024, Morgan Sindall Construction’s Southern Home Counties team proudly completed Phase Two of the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Southlands Hospital in Shoreham-by-Sea—a significant step forward in expanding high-quality, accessible healthcare for the local community.

Following the successful delivery of Phase One in 2023, the Trust entrusted Morgan Sindall with this critical follow-up, recognising the strength of a long-standing collaborative relationship built across multiple projects. This trust paid off: Phase Two was completed ahead of schedule, with handover achieved on 2nd October 2024.

This 39-week programme transformed the site through a careful strip-out and demolition of previous infrastructure, replaced with a state-of-the-art facility feat

* Four advanced ultrasound rooms

* Two echo treatment rooms

* Two lung function testing rooms

* A specialised gynaecology treatment suite

The development also reconfigured the hospital’s existing X-ray department and added essential support spaces including recovery rooms, waiting areas, medical storage, and staff amenities—designed to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Sustainability was embedded into the project’s fabric, with air source heat pumps installed to ensure reliable, low-carbon heating as part of a future-ready healthcare infrastructure.
