Integration & Collaborative Working

Bishop Wand School: Turning Crisis into Collaborative Success

When the original contractor went into insolvency, the Bishop Wand School project was left in crisis. Surrey County Council (SCC) swiftly turned to trusted delivery partner MCS to rescue the build – proving that, with the right mindset, adversity can spark opportunity.

Swift Action, Skilled Response
Time was critical. MCS was directly appointed to take immediate action: conducting invasive surveys, identifying defects, and assembling a reliable team. The findings revealed major structural issues – from defective screeding to compromised walls – but MCS acted decisively, removing poor-quality work and restoring confidence from the outset.

Empathy in Action
Drawing from a prequalified supply chain, MCS chose partners not by price, but by experience, collaboration, and quality. The result? A united, one-team approach that prioritised the needs of the school. This empathetic delivery model gave Bishop Wand School a new perspective on construction – one built on trust and shared goals.

Transparent Delivery, Outstanding Results
The project was delivered under an open-book agreement, fostering transparency and collaboration throughout. Completed below the contract sum, with minimal defects and maximum praise, the transformation has been both physical and cultural.

From crisis to completion, this was a story of trust, teamwork, and true value – turning a once-abandoned build into a beacon of what public sector construction can achieve.
